Gianvito Urgese
Assistant Professor in the EDA group at Politecnico di Torino. He received his M.Sc. degree(summa cum laude) in Electrical Engineering at Politecnico di Torino. He completed his PhD with a thesis titled Computational Methods for Bioinformatics Analysis and Neuromorphic Computing. He is involved in several European funded projects focused on Neuromorphic, Bioinformatics, and Industry 4.0. His research interests focus on: (i) Research and design of optimised task-specific algorithms; (ii) Development of tools for the study of non-coding biological sequences; (iii) Design of heterogeneous SW/HW architectures to accelerate bioinformatics algorithms; (iv) Design of algorithms for exploiting the computational advantages of the neuromorphic platforms;(v) Definition of an alternative engineering process reference architecture for the management of a digitalised life-cycle of products and solutions in the Industry 4.0 projects. In the fields above he has authored 32 scientific publications. He was a tutor of 21 MSc thesis.
